I learned what it really means to build a strong brand foundation, and why consistency in visual storytelling and brand language matters. I realized that a brand and product designed only with aesthetic concerns cannot succeed on their own. Positioning, clear target audience analysis, and making intentional decisions are essential.
The course also helped me rethink how I manage social media in a way that supports the brand, and I revisited my advertising plans accordingly. I understood that for a product to reach its audience, being ‘good’ is not enough. Strong positioning and a well-planned advertising campaign play a critical role.
With Sinem’s valuable guidance, I could see how to place my brand on solid ground. While learning what would strengthen my brand, I also became aware of the habits and decisions that were unintentionally harming it. Before this course, my thinking about building a brand was much less conscious. Now I can look at it not only as an entrepreneur, but also with a designer’s perspective.
This course did not only teach us how to build a brand, but also how to design a brand identity from zero. After graduation, I plan to take these lessons and Sinem’s guidance seriously, and build and grow my own brand with a strong foundation."
Throughout the course, I learned how important it is to build a brand’s identity correctly and step by step, and that clarifying why a brand exists and what values it represents in the background forms the basis of brand strategy. Understanding the target audience correctly, analyzing their needs and expectations, was particularly critical in the branding process, giving me a new perspective.
It also taught me how to position a brand consistently and how to maintain the same message appropriately across different platforms. I realized how effective and interconnected factors like brand language, storytelling, and building emotional connections are in creating strong brands.
I can say that this course was very helpful in establishing my own brand, Marée, during this process. I now understand better the importance of creating a brand identity that people can connect with, beyond simply offering a product, and this journey has greatly helped and propelled me forward in terms of brand identity, positioning, and values. I’ve become much more conscious in clarifying Marée Jewelry’s values, accurately understanding the target audience, and creating a consistent brand story, following the right sequence.
Overall, this lesson has allowed me to approach branding not just from a design or marketing perspective, but from a more strategic and holistic viewpoint."
The course also showed us how brand elements such as logos, colors, typography, vision, and mission shape customer perception. One of the most valuable parts was realizing that products are not just things to be bought, but can be supported by stories, experiences, and stronger emotional connections.
I believe every design student should learn branding, because it gives them the foundation to market and communicate their work more effectively."
